Campole is a historic mediterranean town, situated east of Durness. It has a lot of historic significance, particularly in literature. The library is one of the key landmarks in the city.

The first signs of life around the Campole settlement date from around 3000 years ago. It is thought that the earliest forms of written language were invented here.

Campole is located along the Blue highway, linking it up directly at only a couple minutes away from Durness. Hawes is also a stone's throw away.

Campole has a small regional airport, with links to Durness and Ashbourne. Airlines are planning to add a third flight, although no permits have been granted yet.
